Cruise Holiday Travel Insurance

Cruise Holiday Travel Insurance

It is a condition of booking a cruise holiday with us that you have taken out appropriate travel insurance cover.  We are pleased to offer a fully comprehensive travel insurance policy arranged by Gold Cover Insurance Services and insured by Lloyd's of London. This policy has been specially chosen to give you peace of mind about coping with unforeseen events that could occur either before or during your holiday. Your attention is drawn to item 2 of the booking conditions covering the cancellation penalties and therefore it is advisable that insurance cover is taken out at the time of booking to cover any potential charges.

This insurance policy is available only to UK residents domiciled in the UK (Incl. Channel Islands, Republic of Ireland and the Isle of Man) and registered with a Medical Practitioner in their domiciled country and can only be applied to round trips commencing in and returning to the United Kingdom.

Due to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations, our travel insurance may only be purchased from us directly. Please call us on 0845 430 0274 to arrange your policy, or ask your Travel Agent for details of alternative schemes that they may be able to offer you.

Summary of Cover

This is only an outline of the cover provided per person.  A specimen copy of the full policy wording is available on request.

  • Ages apply at date policy is issued (except for children)
  • You must declare any pre-existing medical conditions of the insured or anyone on whose health your trip may depend, including any symptoms which are awaiting or receiving treatment or investigation.  More information is provided in your policy document.
  • Children under 2 years at time of travel are insured free of charge when travelling with an insured adult. Children under 18 year old pay 25% of the adult rate when travelling with an insured adult.
  • Please note that restrictions/exclusions may apply for certain activities and sports. This is of particular relevance to the Northern Lights and Worldwide cruises. Please ask for details.

This travel insurance is insured by Lloyd's of London Syndicates 4444/958 managed by Canopius Managing Agents Limited.  They are authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority.

Pre-Existing Medical Conditions

If you or any of the people travelling with you or others on whose health the trip depends have any pre-existing medical conditions you will not be covered unless you check that the conditions can be covered with the Insurer's Health Check Line shown in your policy wording booklet. However, if your pre-existing condition(s) are shown under No Screen Conditions in the policy wording you will automatically be covered for those conditions and you do not need to contact the Health Check Line.

No cover can be provided if you have received a terminal prognosis, are travelling to receive medical treatment, travelling against the advice of a medical practioner, any condition you are aware of but for which you have not had a diagnosis or a condition you are on a waiting list for or have knowledge of need for surgery, treatment or investigation.

Please see full details in the policy wording booklet.

Commencement of Cover

For Single Trips or Annual Multi Trips policies your cover does not commence until your policy documentation has been issued and your payment has been processed.

Please read your policy wording carefully and take note of the pre-existing medical conditions, exclusions, excesses, limitations and conditions.  If you find the policy does not meet your requirements you can return the policy to us within 30 days of receipt, but before the trip departure date.  Provided no claim has been made your premium will be refunded in full.

Consumer Insurance Act

You are required by the provisions of the Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Act to take care to:

  • supply accurate and complete answers to all the questions we or the administrator may ask as part of your application for cover under the policy;
  • to make sure that all information supplied as part of your application for cover is true and correct;
  • tell us of any changes to the answers you have given as soon as possible.

Failure to provide answers in-line with the requirements of the Act may mean that your policy is invalid and that it does not operate in the event of a claim.

Most sections of your policy are subject to an excess as shown in our Summary of Benefits and in your policy wording.  This means each person will have to bear the first part of each claim.

You may not be covered if you are planning to take part in hazardous pursuits where there is a generally recognised risk of injury.  A list of acceptable hazardous pursuits is shown in the policy wording. Please ask us if you are in any doubt.  It may be possible to cover other activities for an additional premium. Age restrictions may also apply.
